A working class northern family in Sheffield have been working as a unit for over 15 years without the presence of their father who left just before Emily, aged 15, was born. Yvonne, a single mum has single handedly brought up both Emily and her sister Zoe since her husband left her when she was just 19 years old. Yvonne has had a lot of help
from her younger brother, Greg who has been the only father figure that the girls have had during their lives.

It all begins to go wrong when Emily discovers that her dad has been trying to contact her for a long time but Yvonne has been hiding the letters from Emily. With the help of her best mate Sam they decide how they are going to move past this so Emily can finally meet her dad. Yvonne discovers this and pleads with Greg and Zoe to put a stop to it. Greg see’s the weakness and need in Emily and decides to help her. As the plot progresses we see the weakness in Yvonne and how she may not have been telling the truth about her husband.
